Home Electrification Energy Company and Products
PROJECT: Rename a startup company and its advanced ductless heat pump technology that’s transforming home climate control to build a better, cleaner, more comfortable future for people and the planet.
QUILT: A coverlet for a bed, made of two layers of fabric with some soft substance, as wool or down, between them and stitched in patterns or tufted through all thicknesses in order to prevent the filling from shifting. A bedspread or counterpane, especially a thick one. Anything quilted or resembling a quilt. To stitch together (two pieces of cloth and a soft interlining), usually in an ornamental pattern. To sew up between pieces of material. To make quilts or quilted work.
BRAND POSITIONING: This smart, passionate, home electrification startup comprised of ex-Googlers came to using Abri as their placeholder name. They were looking for a new name to better reflect their innovative product and imperative mission: to migrate humanity off fossil fuel heating.
As the company says, we humans have been burning things to keep us warm for over a million years; moving beyond fire is a species-level revolution. Leading this revolution is their ductless heat pump technology. It’s all about modern, electric, home climate control. It’s also all about demonstrating the ease and comfort that this technology provides.
The name we created, Quilt, is an evocative, “warm and fuzzy,” human-centric, homey name that exemplifies a merger of form (design/aesthetics), function (warmth, comfort, ease of use), and science (baffles, insulation, layers). It also maps metaphorically to the networked home, where individual heat pumps and other devices are “stitched together” to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts, a beautiful and sustaining “big picture” piece of “functional art.”
Kudos to our client, who seized the opportunity to create nice creative friction between their high-tech products of the future and the “down home,” familiar quality of this new name.
Quilt. The future of home climate control is electric.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL:
“From the start, Zinzin told us about their standard process and the project plan. They told us how long the project would take, what they would do every week, and how much the project would cost, and they delivered exactly as expected. We’re very happy with the name that Zinzin helped us come up with, and people have complimented us on it as well.”
