New Long-Haul Truck for a Classic American Brand
PROJECT: Name the next generation in long-haul truck design by Mack Trucks (Mack), a brand born in America over a century ago that’s become one of North America’s largest manufacturers of medium- and heavy-duty trucks, as well as proprietary engines and transmissions.
PIONEER: One who goes before, as into the wilderness, preparing the way for others to follow. A person or other entity who is first or among the earliest in any field of inquiry, enterprise, or progress.
BRAND POSITIONING: When Mack came to Zinzin to name its innovative new long-haul truck, we were thrilled to help steer this project towards a name that captures the rich legacy and bold leadership of this enduring American brand. (And, frankly, it was super cool to name a Mack truck!)
The name Zinzin created, Pioneer, maps to Mack’s past, present, and future as an industry leader.
A subtle nod to the founding Mack brothers themselves, this name connotes the pioneer spirit that America was built upon – innovative, courageous, and hard-working. It lives on in today’s new standard in long-haul trucking, Mack Pioneer™.
The Pioneer truck introduces several industry-first and cutting-edge features:
- Bold, iconic design
- Driver-focused comfort and safety
- Next-generation living environment
- Enhanced functionality and safety
- Aerodynamic excellence
- Integrated connectivity and charging
- Customizable
In the words of Stephen Roy, president of Mack Trucks:
“The Pioneer’s comfort features reflect our deep understanding of drivers’ needs and our commitment to their well-being,” said Stephen Roy, president, Mack Trucks. “With the Pioneer, we’re not just introducing a new truck. We’re redefining what a highway truck can be, taking trucking into the 21st century with features that transform the daily experience of professional drivers who spend an average of 150 hours per month in their trucks.”
Zinzin enjoyed our collaboration with the fabulous team at Mack Trucks; this is our second Mack product to launch, with more to come. We admire the company’s commitment to names that continue to build the Mack brand and strategically drive it into the future, all while honoring Mack’s roots and keeping the needs of drivers squarely in focus.
