Temperature Adjustable Mug And Company Brand

PROJECT: Name an advanced temperature adjustable mug and the company behind it and future temperature control products.
EMBER: A small, glowing piece of coal or wood, as in a fire.
BRAND POSITIONING: Clay Alexander came to us with an amazing product, a sleek and beautiful new kind of travel mug being designed by the famed product design agency Ammunition. The product features advanced technology and a Bluetooth-connected smartphone app to set your ideal beverage temperature and to keep it there. But equally important, the technology is hidden and the experience of using the product seamless, no different than using a “normal” travel mug. Only better. Much better.
We helped create the name Ember for this breakthrough new mug and the company that produces it and other temperature-controlled drinkware products. Ember has great connotations of warmth, heat, and of keeping the flame alive. Also portability — the ember that you keep safe to be able to start a new fire at a different time or place. Sometimes just a few degrees can make the biggest difference in how something tastes. Ember is here to make sure your drink tastes exactly the way you like it.

UPDATE May 30, 2024: Congrats to our client Ember for being named to Time magazine’s TIME100 Companies of 2024! Nine years after we first worked on this project together, Ember has expanded into some exciting new fields, as Time notes:
These days, Ember does far more than make mugs that keep coffee warm. It’s applying its temperature-regulating technology—with over 150 patents—to everything from baby bottles to the Ember Cube, the world’s first self-refrigerated, sensor-enabled, cloud-connected shipping box. … This year the company announced a partnership with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency to support the U.S. Olympic Team Trials ahead of the Paris Games. The office joke? “Ember is to temperature what Dyson is to air,” says Tim LeBeau, CEO of Ember’s consumer division. He foresees other applications, including coolers built into new vehicles; the company has already partnered with auto manufacturers.
Ember is a prime example of how a unique, memorable brand name can help your company achieve great success and propel you forward into the as-yet-unknown future. Way to go Ember!
