Personal Financial App Debt Management Tool
PROJECT: Name a debt-management tool for Qapital, an award-winning personal finance app that helps individuals save, budget, invest, and spend with any goal in mind.
DEBT WRANGLER: Someone who handles or controls money that is owed. A combination of “debt” (money that is owed or due) + “wrangler” (one who wrangles; a herder or cowboy; a person who handles or controls animals involved in the making of a film or television program).
BRAND POSITIONING: We have worked on multiple naming and brand architecture projects for Qapital, and the first to launch is for the Qapital app’s student loan debt management feature. As with all of our Qapital projects, the mandate for this one was that the name, even though experiential and related to debt management, must still somehow move beyond boring, traditional financial-world jargon. Qapital needed an engaging, creative name for a product that means serious business: managing debt in an effective way that’s best for users and their financial goals.
The name Zinzin created, Debt Wrangler, is playful, but still means business. It maps to Qapital’s users being in control of their own and their debt’s destiny, so to speak, and connotes an optimism and confidence, a “you can do this” attitude. No matter the amount of money owed, to be in debt is often an overwhelming feeling of losing control of your finances and financial stability; to lessen that amount and ultimately to become debt-free can feel like a Sisyphean task. Debt Wrangler will help you get your debt under control, no matter how daunting or out-of-control it seems at the moment.
