Oncology “Intelligent Care Platform” and Company Name
PROJECT: Rename the first “Intelligent Care Platform” for oncology.
CANOPY: The cover formed by the leafy upper branches of trees in a forest. An overhanging projection or protective covering, usually of fabric, supported on poles or suspended above a bed, throne, exalted personage, or sacred object to provide shelter.
BRAND POSITIONING: This startup came to us with the temporary name Expain; they left us as Canopy. And we’re so glad they did. The company and its innovative technology deserved a name befitting their mission: to provide every person undergoing cancer treatment with the best possible outcomes and experience. They recognized the need for cancer care to catch up with the often complex and continuous needs of oncology patients in this day and age.
The name we created, Canopy, evokes the protective, enveloping, natural ecosystem of a forest tree canopy, teeming with life and renewal — the perfect metaphor for how this platform sustains and nurtures patients and caregivers. The name also resonates with Canopy’s key insight: “In order to help patients, you need to help the practice first.” That the name begins with the first three letters of “cancer,” which also form a positive word for the ability to do something — yes, we can beat cancer! — is an extra bonus.
Says Canopy about their proactive care platform:
Studies show that remote monitoring of patients receiving treatment leads to improved quality of life, satisfaction and overall survival, but providers lack the tools to deliver remote and proactive care. Canopy flips that model on its head by enabling physicians to interact with their patients continuously and proactively.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL:
“It was great to work with them. Their expertise was outstanding — we could just tell that they were seasoned professionals. They’d done this before for incredibly successful companies, so Zinzin would come to the table with great ideas. Moreover, they shaped how we thought about picking the name, which was invaluable. They taught us a lot, so we not only accomplished the mission but also learned a lot along the way.”
