That’s pretty much how the conversation went between me, a Bay Area newcomer, and a Bay Area native when I first moved out here. I had never heard of the brand name for this hyper-local ice cream cookie sandwich dipped in chocolate and devoured by many in and around San Francisco.
Thirteen years later and three kids in, I’m all in. An IT’S-IT devotee. So, here’s a brief exploration of the origins of this highly memorable brand name born in the Bay Area.
